This guide will walk you through the usage and installation process, ensuring that you get the most out of your SmartphoneKey system. Whether you’re a resident, property manager, or Airbnb host, this guide provides everything you need to know to set up and use SmartphoneKey effectively.

Installation Guide

Step 01

Unbox Your SmartphoneKey System

Ensure all components are included:

  • SmartphoneKey Reader(s) (Wi-Fi or LTE, depending on your order)
  • Wall-mount installation kit
  • Screwdriver for hidden bolt
  • 2 QR codes
Step 02

Install the SmartphoneKey Reader

1. Choose Installation Location: Select the entry point(s) where you want to install the SmartphoneKey Reader. It should be placed near the door lock for easy access.

2. Mount the Reader:

  • Drill 4 holes in the wall/door for self-tapping screws, and 1 hole for the cable.
  • Insert rubber bungs into the holes.
  • Secure the mounting bracket with 4 self-tapping screws.
  • Attach the SmartphoneKey Reader to the bracket using the fixing bracket screw.
  • Thread the cable through the cable hole.

3. Install the Exit Button:

  • Choose Installation Location: Select the location for the Exit Button, ideally near the door to allow easy exit.
  • Mount the Exit Button:
    - Drill 2 holes for self-tapping screws, and 1 hole for the cable.
    - Insert rubber bungs into the holes.
    - Secure the mounting bracket with 2 self-tapping screws.
    - Attach the Exit Button to the bracket using the fixing bracket screw.
    - Thread the cable through the cable hole.
  • Connect the Exit Button: Follow the wiring diagram in the quick start guide to connect the exit button to the SmartphoneKey Reader.

4. Connect the Reader:

  • Wi-Fi Model: Connect the SmartphoneKey Reader to your Wi-Fi network using the instructions in the quick start guide.
  • LTE Model: Ensure a stable LTE signal and connect it to the network.

Note: The SIM card is required for LTE versions. Insert the micro SIM card by unscrewing the back of the device, placing the card, and securing the cover.

Step 03

Integrate with Apple or Google Wallet

  1. Open the Wallet App: On your phone, launch either the Apple Wallet or Google Wallet app.
  2. Add SmartphoneKey: Follow the prompts to add the SmartphoneKey digital key to your wallet.
  3. Tap to Unlock: Use your phone to unlock the door by tapping it against the SmartphoneKey Reader.
Step 04

Set Up Key Cards (Optional)

  1. Assign Key Cards: Distribute key cards to authorized users.
  2. Activate Key Cards: Activate each key card using the instructions in the quick start guide.

Google home integration

Adding SmartphoneKey to Google Home

For Android and iOS Users:

You can easily integrate SmartphoneKey with Google Home for seamless control and automation. Follow these steps to connect your SmartphoneKey device to Google Home:

1. Prepare the Device and App:

  • Ensure your Google Home app is updated to the latest version.
  • Make sure your phone and SmartphoneKey device are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Confirm that your SmartphoneKey device is powered on and in pairing mode.

2. Start Pairing Process:

  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Tap the “+” icon → “Set up device” → “New device”.
  • Select your home and room or create new ones.

3. Scan the Matter QR Code:

  • Point your phone's camera at the Matter QR code on the SmartphoneKey device or packaging.
  • If your phone doesn’t have a camera or you can’t scan the QR code, select “Enter code manually”.

4. Complete Pairing:

  • Google Home will automatically begin the pairing process.
  • Wait for the connection to complete.
  • Set access permissions for your household members, if necessary.

5. Finish Setup:

  • Once connected, your SmartphoneKey device will appear in the Google Home app.
  • Assign a name to the device for easier access and voice commands with Google Assistant.
  • You can now control your SmartphoneKey system through Google Home and enjoy full integration with other smart devices in your home.

Apple home integration

Adding SmartphoneKey to Apple HomeKit

For iOS Users:

You can integrate SmartphoneKey with Apple HomeKit for seamless control and automation. Follow these steps to add your SmartphoneKey device to the Home app:

1. Prepare the Device and App:

  • Ensure your iPhone or iPad is updated to the latest iOS version.
  • Make sure your SmartphoneKey device is powered on and in pairing mode.
  • Verify that your iPhone/iPad and SmartphoneKey device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

2. Start the Pairing Process:

  • Open the Home app on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Tap the "+" button → Add Accessory.
  • If prompted, select “More options” to proceed.

3. Scan the Matter QR Code:

  • Scan the Matter QR code from the SmartphoneKey device, manual, or package.
  • Alternatively, you can enter the setup code manually if needed.

4. Put the Device in Pairing Mode:

  • Ensure your SmartphoneKey device is powered on and in pairing mode.

5. Connect to Apple Home:

  • Wait for the device to connect via Wi-Fi or Thread.
  • If the device uses Thread, ensure you have a Thread Border Router (HomePod mini or Apple TV 4K).

6. Assign to a Room:

  • Choose a room for the device to be located in (or create a new room).
  • Give your device a name that’s recognizable for Siri and automation.

7. Finish Setup:

  • Tap Done to complete the setup.
  • The device will now appear in the Home app and sync across all devices using your Apple ID.

Usage Guide

Using Key Cards

  1. Unlocking Doors: To unlock the door, simply tap your SmartphoneKey key card against the installed SmartphoneKey Reader. The door will unlock automatically, allowing you entry.
  2. Security Assurance: Rest easy knowing that your key card is non-copyable, providing a high level of security and peace of mind.

Using Digital Keys (Wallet Integration)

  1. Unlocking with Phone: Open your Apple or Google Wallet app and tap your phone against the SmartphoneKey Reader to unlock the door.
  2. Battery Backup: If your phone’s battery is dead, the digital key card will still work, ensuring you’re never locked out.

Temporary Key Sharing

  1. Generate Temporary Keys: For guests or service providers, generate a temporary digital key through the SmartphoneKey's Admin Interface.
  2. Send Key to Guests: Share the digital key with your guest via email or messaging app. The key can be set to expire after a specified time or after a single use, providing flexible access control.
  3. Guest Access: Guests can use the temporary key in their Apple or Google Wallet to access the property during their stay.

Admin Interface

  1. Manage Access: Use the Admin Interface to grant or revoke access for residents, guests, or service providers. This centralized platform allows you to oversee all access permissions efficiently.
  2. Track Entry History: Monitor who has accessed the property and when, providing an additional layer of security and oversight.

QR Code Functionality

Visitor Access: Visitors scan the QR code on the SmartphoneKey Reader with their smartphone to call residents, offering a modern alternative to traditional intercom systems.
